Yakimix ☺

Everyone seems to love Yakimix that's why we tried eating there. It's a Japanese, Korean and Cantonese foods that has a smokeless grill and is actually an eat-all-you-can buffet which caters for lunch and dinner service.

The experience was good. There were dishes I didn't like but there were also some that I loved to bits! And if you're a binge eater like myself, Yakimix is the place to eat at!☺

There were raw foods that you can grill with your preferred doneness and there were also cooked dishes that you can just grab on.☺

It's complete with soups, salads, main courses & desserts so your payment would be worth it if you're not going to be a pathetic-on-diet-person. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong to be on diet and eat healthy. What I meant was, if you're gonna go there might as well eat the most of what you can eat to equalize the bill you're going to pay at the end of the pig out session. Or don't come at all to spare yourself from wasting some bucks. If you know what I mean.☺

There were plenty of foods we ate that I haven't taken a photo merely because I was already busy eating or should I say making-myself-even-more-fat. lol. Anyhow, photo roll coming...
Now that I've tried both Sambo kojin and Yakimix, there were little comparisons I've noticed. I like the sauces available on the Sambo kojin table, I love their ice cream & chocolate fondue while in Yakimix, I like their vacherin, egg tart and they have more selections of viands.☺

I liked some of the foods to both buffet establishments but I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. It's just that I'm more drawn into a la carte rather than buffet.☺

Kanin Club!☺

I've been hearing lots of great reviews about Kanin Club that's why I've been wanting to try to eat there for a few months now and it only really pushed through last Sunday with my family, before going to church.☺

Menu shot has quite been a staple of my posts. Just like the quotes I put in every post.☺

*Sinigang na Tadyang na Baka (Beef rib stew)*
Tender beef ribs, slow-cooked in a sour tamarind broth. Makes you hungry.
This is their best seller soup and hell, one sip of the soup and I instantly knew I am where I'm supposed to be! Kanin Club is THE Filipino food haven!☺

*Crispy Dinuguan (Pork blood stew)*
Their most copied signature dish! Pork heavenly deep-fried to a crisp then set in a semi-dry stew of pork blood. Proven to have convinced non-dinuguan eaters to like the dish.
I love dinuguan! I grew up eating it with puto and even on rice on Sundays. I have an Inso(grandma) who cooks good dinuguan and when I say good, it really is. I swear! It's the best dinuguan ever but after I've tasted this from Kanin Club, my Inso's specialty dish fell on the second place. Sorry but this version is brilliant! The crispy touch is actually empowering.☺

*Seafood Kare-Kare*
Their national dish interpreted in the key of sea. Instead of meat, they put in prawns, mussels, and squid.
This is my favorite Filipino dish, ever. My number 1. It's at the top of the list. An A+. You get my point right? lol. I love this version of theirs, a tribute for the non-meat eaters out there so that they won't be missing out on something great like Kare-Kare. This is a seafood overload dish indeed!☺

*Aligue Rice*
This fried rice sauteed in crab fat is so worth the extra hour you'll need to do in the gym tomorrow. Serves 2 to 3.
So sinful and so good at the same time! How can you resist something this delicious? Oh, I don't mind being fat. I've been fat all my life! What's being fat for the rest of it? lol.

*Garlic Rice*
Steamed white rice capped with toasted garlic. Adds a nice zing to plain rice.

*Crispy Pata*
Live for today with their perfectly deep-fried pork, knuckles. The skin is light and crunchy and the meat melts in your mouth. They challenge you to resist.
You're going to resist to Crispy effing pata? Are you effing kidding me?! Haha!

*Turon (Banana fritter)*
What is love? It consists of ube(purple yam), macapuno, sweetened banana, and sweetened jackfruit. This is a merienda or mid-afternoon snack staple here in the Philippines. And their version is the best I've ever tasted so far.☺

*Turon ala Mode*
It's practically the same as turon with an ice cream.☺

*Leche flan (Creme Caramel)*
This haven't won my heart. There's nothing special to it. My brother just insisted on this because he loves Leche flan.☺

I'm pretty sure that I'm coming back!☺

I'm your fattie foodie! I hope to lose some fats next year while eating good stuff like this! I don't know how am I supposed to do that but I'll still try. Wish me luck!☺

Folle Quatorze ☺

I got invited over French dinner last November 18 by my old classmates in Global Academy. They had their restaurant simulation, which I also had a few months back. I was seated on the VIP table and was really treated like one. I actually headed there straight from my ojt so I'm wearing my uniform, and I look nothing like a VIP! lol Anyway, the photo shown above was their table set up. It's elegant, right?☺

*Pan-seared fillet of white fish, sauteed prawn, and poached New Zealand black mussel in Bouillabaisse broth*
They normally serve the salad first but I chose to have my soup as my first course and hell it's crazy good! I love it! Though I intentionally didn't finish it all because I'm saving some space up for the 4 course I will still eat that night.☺

*Salad of mixed greens with raspberry truffle vinaigrette*
I love the raspberry truffle vinaigrette! It's perfection! I'm in love with this salad!☺

*Citrus vin blanc sorbet*
This is the third course or the palate cleanser, a break of the tongue for the savory flavors intake beforehand and for us to be prepared for the richness of the main course coming.☺

*Pan-roasted beef tenderloin served with pommes gratin, sauteed asparagus and sauce bordelaise*
This one's gotta be my favorite course! The sauce bordelaise is to die for! I actually asked for its recipe.☺

*Warm red wine - poached pear served with blue cheese ice cream*
I gotta commend Chef Jun for this meal courses, he's the man behind all these. This dessert is a genius touch. When you eat the pear and the ice cream at the same time, it just click and tastes like heaven!☺

Cafe Breton!♥

Someone told me that I should try Cafe Breton's crepes because it's yummy and worth trying. Luckily, there's a branch in Tomas Morato that's why I didn't hesitate and tried it right away.

Took a photo of their menu.☺
"Cafe Breton offers the travelers of life a place to pause, to delight in the charm of the simpler things in life. The aroma from a good cup of coffee, the satisfaction from a well prepared meal, and music from another place and time."

The Morato branch is so cozy I'm willing to stay there everyday--to catch up with some friends, to read a good book, to study or to write. I really love the place!☺

Cafe mocha.☺
This was good. A decent mocha for me though I think the serving is quite small than what I've expected. Anyhow, I still kind a liked it!☺ I can't find over the net how much this cost me but I think it's around Php 95, if I'm not mistaken.

I had Fantastic Pinay that consisted of mango, nutella, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. I instantly fell in love at first bite! I really wanted to order another round of it but it's gonna make me spend more than what I've planned for that day so I controlled myself. This costs Php 205.95.☺

"...sprinkled with sugar and eaten hot, they form an exquisite dish. They have a golden hue and are tempting to eat. Thin and transparent like muslin, their edges are trimmed to resemble fine lace. They are so light that after a good dinner, a man from Agen is still willing to sample three or four dozen of them! Crêpes form an integral part of every family celebration. Served with white wine, they take pride of place on all joyful occasions."

82 and counting!☺

My lola, my mom's mom, celebrated her 82nd birthday last November 13 via simple merienda(snack at mid-afternoon) with all her children and grand children..

Puto(steamed Filipino rice cake) ☺
This is a merienda staple, as for my observation and is actually partnered with Dinuguan(pork blood stew). I haven't taken a photo of Dinuguan, boo me!

Pancit Malabon(stir-fried seafood noodles) ☺
This is my family's favorite pancit. It's always always present in simple celebrations like this one.☺

Lola Nine w her cousin Lolo Benny, who just got back from the US. He's already based there and just visits here once in a while.☺

Lola Nine before blowing her cake. She cried when we sang to her, she's really touched!♥

This is my older sister's gift to Lola, a 20x12 inches cake from Goldilock's.☺

Do you know what's the best gift to give? ☺

Since I've started my ojt, I rekindled with my reading and I finished this book for only 10 days. I only read when I'm on break, maybe 1 1/2 - 2 hours everyday when I have work(ojt). :)

Cecelia Ahern is one of my favorite writers, she's really brilliant! You'll never guess what the story's all about and you'll never know how it will end that's why I'm always drawn into reading her books. My favorites from her works are P.S. I Love You, Love, Rosie, and this one, The Gift. :)

The Gift is very much relatable because it tackles about family, work, love and life. It's touching especially on the end part. I can't usually finish non-romantic books because, no offense meant, I tend to get bored on the middle part but this book had me flipping through the pages up until the very end where I even got teary eyed. I learned something very important from this book and you should learn that too, so read it! :)

I don't wanna spoil anything that's why I'm not gonna answer this post's title question, I want you to find it out for yourself. And now, I'm unto my next book. I'm currently reading The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. ;)

Time flies!

"It's crazy how much can change in a year.."

This time last year I was lost, unsure and depressed. I was telling my parents that I'm shifting to another course. To another course that's not even a bit related with the one I'm taking that time. I'm shifting to a course where not all people understand why people like me, take it.

Some say I'm hard headed, others tell I'm a spoiled brat but the only reaction that's important for me that time or up until now is my immediate family's reaction especially my parents because in the first place, they're the one who sends me to school. But they didn't even raise a voice on me, they just asked if I really wanted to pursue my choice and let me. And that, I'm forever thankful. ♥

Culinary Arts, the course to take to learn the art of cooking. A lot of people would never understand this but there's this certain happiness that I can only feel when I'm in the kitchen prep-ing, cooking or baking. It's as if I am in my own world and the only problem I got is the dish I'm doing.

So now, I'm currently doing my internship and will graduate as soon as I completed the hours required. And luckily I'm happy and contented. That's what matters the most right? Because at the end of the day, when you're all alone in bed, the most important thing is you have a smiling face and a happy heart even though you just had a really exhausting day. :)

Puto! ☺

Last November 1, before going home from my Lola Azon's mausoleum, I bought puto bumbong and puto kawali. Puto is Philippines' very own steamed rice cake and the two mentioned beforehand were types of puto. These two are prevalently available during Christmas season or when -ber months take place. ☺

This is what they use to cook by steaming the purplish glutinous rice on a bamboo tubes. The bamboo tubes are also called bumbong and that's where the name of the food is gotten from. ☺

Puto bumbong is served on a banana leaf with cheese, coconut shavings, margarine and sugar on top. It's best eaten when still hot. Sarap! Manyaman! Delicious! ☺

And this is how puto kawali or bibingka is cooked. It's in the middle of two set of charcoals. It is made from rice flour, coconut milk and eggs. It's consistency when still not cooked is like a pancake mixture and when it's already cooked, it's moist and as soft as sponge. ☺

My dinner that night! Sinful yet you can't blame me because both tasted great! ♥

Guilty pleasures!♥

As I've mentioned on my previous post, I'm currently having my on the job training and it's happening on Katre Mediterranean Fusion Cuisine. My schedule is pretty crazy because it's split. It's from 10am to 2pm then 5pm to 10pm everyday. And during my 3 hour break, I usually get my favorite drinks, thankfully Tomas Morato is filled with tons of food establishments where I can stay to kill time to read or tweet or whatever the hell I want to do for my free 3 hour break. :)

On my first day, that's November 2, I stayed at Bubble Tea to kill time and rest and tweet all at the same time. I ordered their Royal Milk Tea with small bubbles. :)

The next day I stayed at Kopi Roti. Oh, how I love their buns!!! I can eat it every morning! :) I actually learned a lot from my first day, so the very next day I already brought a book, a charger for my phone, my ipod, a tickler and a pen to accompany me. :)

DISCLAIMER: Photo is grabbed from google.com :)
I have my favorite Starbucks branch. There are 3 who stand out the most, it's their Tagaytay, their Intramuros and their Morato branches. I have very fond memories in those 3 branches. :) From my 3rd day up to my 10th, I stayed in sb. Basically because I love their couches, it's so comfortable and secondly because I can charge my phone freely there and the third, I'm collecting their stickers. I already have 7 and there are only 10 to go, yes, I chose their first option. I also have 1 free tall drink from them that I haven't gotten yet. Cool right?! :) I'm currently obsessed with their toffee nut latte/frap but I'm not giving up my green tea latte/frap fix yet. :)

Manang's.

Oh, how I missed sharing something here!♥ I haven't been updating because I've been busy with my on the job training. My schedule is hell crazy, I've never been this busy ever so I'll try as much as I can to keep on posting on my days off. ☺

Anyway, this happened last October 28 when I went to Katipunan to meet up with some hs friends and before going home, we ate here at Manang's Chicken. ☺

I told them I wanted to eat somewhere I've never eaten before so that I can blog about it. Haha! ☺

Jade & Gellie. I'm so lucky to have them!♥

Mild spicy chicken! YUM! Is it just me or their chicken is really wonderful? I honestly like it more than Bonchon's! Or well, they're tied. ☺

Aaaaand I just have to have a photo with my best girl friends! Manangs? NOT! ☺♥
