Words of A

According to thefreedictionary, pain is “an unpleasant sensation occurring in varying degrees of severity as a consequence of injury, disease, or emotional disorder” and it can also mean “suffering or distress”. Normally, people rate pain from 1-10 for comparison or medical purposes. But how do we really know how much pain we’re feeling? Can we really rate pain? If ever we can, is it accurate?

Some people say that they’re more in pain compared to other people but I beg to disagree with the idea. For me, we really can’t compare each other’s pain because we can’t really know what the other party is really feeling. We can base on their description of how painful they’re feeling but we can’t really know. We can never be certain. We will never know until we step in their shoes. We will never understand until we become that person, until we live that person’s life. To quote one of my favourite books ever written...

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

It’s so easy to say that we’re having it harder compared to anyone else we know, but that is just coming from our own point of view, the only point we will ever understand fully because we’re living it. So, the next time we’re feeling a little too down, let’s just remember that “Everyone we meet is fighting their own battle.” No one is having it real easy. Everyone is having a hard time but some people just know how to handle it well. I’m gonna end this post with a lyric I come across the web and I’ve always remembered..

“We’re all in the same game, just different levels. Dealing with the same hell, just different devils.”
